It's actually a bit fascinating. I had always thought, as most do, that it had happened on top of the bluff, 150 feet above the water. In fact it was on a very narrow shelf accessible only by boat and at the water's edge. It's about 3/8ths of a mile upriver from the mouth of the Lincoln Tunnel and within sight of my office window.
