On Love.... pt1

I fled Him, down the nights and down the days;
I fled Him, down the arches of the years;
I fled Him, down the labyrinthine ways
Of my own mind; and in the mist of tears
I hid from Him, and under running laughter.
Up vistaed hopes I sped;
And shot, precipitated,
Adown Titanic glooms of chasmed fears,
From those strong Feet that followed, followed after.
But with unhurrying chase,
And unperturbd pace,
Deliberate speed, majestic instancy,
They beat - and a Voice beat
More instant than the Feet -
"All things betray thee, who betrayest Me."

Thr Hound of Heaven
Francis Thompson

I have abandoned the religion of my childhood, the religion of my parents.
But, I have not abandoned God. Nor has He me.
I truly believe that you cannot love anyone else in this place......,
......... if you do not already love yourself, first.

God is hard, we really can't know much about Him. He is not convenient. I've often tried to say to myself that He does not exist, or to ignore that He does exist........

He just waits to the side, until I'm done with my silliness, and then simply says,
" I love you."

......and from that love comes my love of self, and from there of all others.
I truly do not hate......... anyone or anything...........

It's a good feeling.

I do not reread this poem often enough. But over the years, it has haunted me, and I've reread it more then any other.
