It's Not Spring Yet.....,

But the Forsythias are in bloom, as they always are at this time of the year for as long as I can remember.

It's cold and icy and ugly outside. However, when I walked into mom's kitchen the other day, she had a vase on the windowsill filled with cuttings from her Forsythia hedge. The outdoor plants won't bloom for another seven weeks, but her cuttings indoors provided her annual reminder that Spring is really not that far away.

She's two days shy of 89, and for over fifty years she's always had her own private personal birthday bouquet.
