Saturday Morning Rumination.....

I live in suburban North Jersey, the most densely populated state in the country - over 1,100 people/sq mile. Despite that, we have a fairly large deer population - they were here first and we've eliminated the predators.

This morning, I was running errands and I spotted an eight point buck in the middle of the road ahead of me. I'm very used to does and fawns, but you almost never see a buck, much less in broad daylight. I slowed and watched, he watched back, did not run away. Eventually he continued across, onto someone's front lawn,

Then I spotted the doe already there.
